A major player in the residential pool heating industry is making a comeback in 2012. Founded by the original owners of Summit (acquired by Hayward in 2008), Thermeau offers an excellent new product line and we are pleased to offer Thermeau’s Premium line of products.
In addition to Nirvana and Rheem, Frédéric Bédard is now a Hayward Gold Certified Technician. You can therefore contact us for the maintenance of your Hayward heat pump.
After more than 20 years of professional service, Guy and Suzanne Robichaud of Thermo Piscine Granby have decided to take a well-deserved retirement and have chosen Frédéric Bédard Pool Heating to care for their precious customers.
Variable speed heat pumps (already well known in the air conditioning industry) are becoming increasingly common in the pool market. Their silent running and energy saving in comparison to traditional heat pumps give them a definite advantage.
Moov is the first company to offer them in capacities greater than 65,000 BTUs and has an exceptionally good after-sales service plan. So it is my pleasure to join them in offering their products.
Introduced in the late 1980s, the pool heat pump is becoming increasingly popular. Previously installed mainly for in-ground pools, it is now a standard item for many above-ground pool owners who appreciate its efficiency and low operating cost.
Several improvements have also been made to the pool heat pump over the years. They are now much quieter than before and some manufacturers have invested a lot in research and development to increase energy efficiency (while others are still content to offer the lowest possible purchase price).
During the 1990s, 100,000 BTUs models were not available, which somewhat tarnished the reputation of pool heat pumps, as many owners of large pools complained about the limited power and the difficulty of maintaining a desired temperature at all times. This problem is now a thing of the past with residential models ranging from 40,000 to 140,000 BTUs.
A year of major changes
2010 was a year of significant changes for pool heat pump manufacturers. Indeed, they had to comply with the new regulations and therefore stop using the R-22 refrigerant (considered too harmful for the ozone layer) and switch to more environmentally friendly refrigerants, including R-410a, which is now the gold standard in the world of air conditioning/heating.
Besides being very easy to use, the heat pump is by far the most cost-effective way to keep your pool water at the desired temperature throughout the season. For example, it is possible to heat a 24-foot pool for less than $300 per season using a high efficiency heat pump.
